The Tāj Maḥal is a mausoleum located in Agra, in northern India (state of Uttar Pradesh), built in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shāh Jahān in memory of his beloved wife Arjumand Banu Begum, better known as Mumtāz Maḥal.
Included since 9 December 1983 in the UNESCO World Heritage List and included in 2007 among the new seven wonders of the world, it has always been considered one of the most remarkable beauties of Muslim architecture in India.
