Antelope Canyon is the most visited slot canyon in the southwestern United States. Located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona, Antelope Canyon consists of two separate formations, called Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon. The two sections are separated by road 98. Both sections, which can only be visited with the assistance of Navaho guides, are a true wonder of nature, and are a real challenge for photographers due to the difficult lighting conditions. In some periods of the year and of the day, the upper section is characterized by the beams of light that reach the ground. Both sections of Antelope Canyon can be prone to flash flooding. Violent rains, even very far from the site, can in fact cause sudden and dangerous floods with little or no warning.
Antelope Canyon was formed over millions of years due to the erosion of sandstone by water and wind.
